Experimenting with Reality
Living in the material world
Lately I am trying to experiment more with Reality. It has some good points and shouldn't be overlooked as a valuable source of experience. However it is only one component of the creative life, and a fragile one at that. Many people have tried to persuade me that Reality doesn't exist. I disagree. I believe implicitly in Reality - just not in our ability to directly access it. And here for me is the massive paradox. As a committed atheist (though I dislike having to use the term) I criticise the agnostic or believer who says exactly that to me in regard to a supernatural being. If someone says "I believe implicitly in God - just not in our ability to directly access it/Him/Her" I would scoff and say, you are setting up an imaginary construct, claiming it can't be proven or disproven, and then asking me to believe in it. Others have said they are agnostic in regard to Reality, but that it is 'convenient to assume it exists'. I suppose there are many who would take the same stance re a deity.
